Want to make a difference?

At Children First/Communities in Schools, we believe that every child deserves to reach their full potential. By volunteering, you can be a part of making sure children have the tools they need to succeed in school and achieve in life! Please send us an email if you are interested in serving with us!

After-School Tutor - sign up for a semester to tutor a child in math or reading after school.

Organize a Resource Supply Drive - collect school supplies, food, learning materials, etc. at your workplace or other community group. We will provide you with a list of items to collect!

Organize a Volunteer Opportunity - share your talents and come to one of our program sites to serve where you shine! You could lead our after school program in an educational activity of your choice, refresh the bulletin boards in our program space, and more.

Help Out With An Event

  • Holiday Giving - help collect gifts for children to be provided in December.

  • Backpack Bonanza - help assemble and give out backpacks that provide supplies to children in August.

  • Seasonal Fundraising Events - help out at one of our fundraising events, from sorting donations, to taking tickets, to overseeing fun kids activities, and more!

  2. Decide where you’d like to serve: We will let you know about the different volunteer opportunities we have available at that time of the year. You can pick which one fits your schedule and skills the best, and let us know!

  3. Background Check: For the safety of our students, all volunteers working directly with children must undergo a criminal background check.

  4. Attend Orientation: Participate in a volunteer orientation to learn about our programs, policies, and the impact of your involvement.
